Photo Shoot

Finn had his first photo shoot with Tia Steph yesterday afternoon on his 3 week birthday. His best friend Eamon was there to supervise but hard to catch on film! Finn actually stayed awake for it all AND didn't fuss! Here are a few of the good ones.

Bath Time

Admittedly we are not the best at bathing babies. They are quite slippery! No one can top Janice's bathing skills, but we can at least try. Finn has done pretty good with his baths. He doesn't cry too much at least not until we're done.

He also has become quite the ladies man as you can see pictured here with Megan. Notice the animal print on his bathrobe hood!

Finn is confident in his manhood!

After the explosive bowel movement that left his cute onesie and car seat soiled, his unprepared parents realized they had not brought a change of clothes. Alas, the ever prepared Jane had some onesies. Unfortunately it was pink but he still is adorable!

What we've learned so far...

It's been a tough first week home but we survived. We quickly learned how explosive babies bowel movements are, especially when heard from across the room! We have also learned:

  • Babies don't follow manuals

  • Mastitis is really painful

  • Finn gets really angry when we stop at stop lights

  • Bowel movements will leak out of the diaper onto the car seat if powerful enough.

  • The mantra: it will get better, is hard to remember when you're holding a screaming infant.

  • Raising an infant is much harder than you can imagine but it's worth it.

Overall, Finn is a very good baby and is super adorable!

Finnegan has arrived!

Apparently I'm not very good at determining when I'm in labor. James and I went out to Continental Divide for dinner Sunday evening. The moment I sat down I became very uncomfortable but was determined to stick it out. Being in labor never crossed my mind until the pain grew worse. Nevertheless, we ate our dinner and then took the dogs for a hike. After laying down for awhile, James decided it was worth going to the hospital to be evaluated. I was convinced I was not in labor and not looking forward to wasting a night at the hospital.

Lo and behold, when I arrived I was already 5cm dilated! Luckily the epidural was administered within the hour. And after 5 and a half hours of pushing, Mr. Finnegan Javier Hansen was born! He weighed in at 7lbs 14.8oz and 97th percentile head circumference! James did very well and didn't pass out! Cursing was kept to a minimum until the last 10 minutes. We're very happy to have Finn with us!

Last Supper at Chez Hansen

The Hansen family gathered at Chez Hansen to celebrate Sarah's return from Venezuela, one day before Baby Hansen is supposed to arrive. These are rare pics of Leti very, very, very pregnant! No, I'm not having twins.
